Michel Lynch, born in 1754, was mayor of Pauillac during the French Revolution and also one of the leading figures in the significant progress in winemaking that took place in the late 18th century. His estate at Bages was renamed Lynch-Bages and later included in the famous 1855 classification of great growths. Jean-Michel Cazes, the current owner of Lynch-Bages decided to honor Michel Lynch by giving his name to an affordable Bordeaux wine made for the purpose of immediate and everyday drinking.

Although made to a price point and in significant volumes (currently the production is 100,000 cases), the fruit sourced for this label is grown according to the same rigid standards as Lynch Bages and with the same philosophy toward style which is immediately approachable, fruit driven yet retaining the finesse and structure of quality Bordeaux. The Michel Lynch red and white is a perfect example of a wine which over delivers on quality for the price.
