Dr Bill Pannell, one of the medical founding fathers of the Margaret River established Moss Wood in 1969 and 31 years later, was joined by Keith Mugford as assitant and then Chief Winemaker. In 2000, Dr Bill retired from the wine industry, selling the estate to Keith and his wife, Clare. The same year, the Mugford’s acquired Ribbon Vale Estate, releasing vineyard designated wines under the Moss Wood umbrella however it is the much prized Cabernet for which demand continues to exceed supply.
