Philip Shaw

In 1989, Philip Shaw, the former chief winemaker of Rosemount Estate, planted vines in Orange and his eponymous wine brand was launched at the same time. Orange is a rapidly developing wine region of New South Wales and one of 2 regions to have its boundaries delineated by altitude. The low temperatures of Orange are highly beneficial for even ripening and flavor development allowing the fruit to take back seat and the somewhere-ness to come shining through. The Idiot Shiraz earned its name after the family took their first sip and announced that it was so delicious, even an Idiot could enjoy it.
