Pieve Santa Restituta

Pieve Santa Restituta is a prestigious winery located in Montalcino, Tuscany, owned by the renowned Gaja family. Acquired by Angelo Gaja in 1994, this estate is dedicated primarily to producing high-quality Brunello di Montalcino, a wine known worldwide for its elegance, complexity, and aging potential.

Named after an ancient Romanesque church on the property, Pieve Santa Restituta spans over 16 hectares of vineyards planted with Sangiovese grapes, the only variety permitted for Brunello di Montalcino. The estate’s unique soils, a mix of clay, limestone, and sandy marl, provide ideal conditions for Sangiovese, allowing it to develop complex flavors and structure.

Notable wines produced by Pieve Santa Restituta include “Brunello di Montalcino,” a classic representation of the terroir, and “Rennina” and “Sugarille,” both single-vineyard Brunellos known for their exceptional quality and expression of the region. Each wine reflects Angelo Gaja’s philosophy, combining traditional Tuscan methods with innovative techniques to achieve balanced wines that can age gracefully over decades.
